Located in Niagara's premier Fallsview district, the Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls Fallsview - the Grand Dame of all the Niagara Falls Hotels, has maintained its reputation over the past 80 years. Originally named the General Brock Hotel, planning began in 1927 with construction taking just over half a year to complete, at the time, establishing a record for this particular type of construction.

Built at a cost of $1.5 million dollars the Brock Plaza boasted 260 guestrooms, and featured a roof garden, fireproof construction and a large Grand ballroom. The local press called it “a mammoth edifice, gleaming white in the sunlight, classic in appearance, looming over the Niagara River.” In later years, renovations to the Fallsview Rainbow Dining room saw two floors constructed and dedicated in 1948.

The Hotel was first named in honour of Major General Sir Isaac Brock, one of Canada’s greatest heroes. General Brock was the military commander of the British and Canadian forces during the early months of the war of 1812. During the largest battle at that point during the war, Sir Issac Brock was killed while defending Upper Canada from American invasion. Today, Queenston Heights the point of land that Brock was protecting in the battle is home to Brock’s Monument a 190-foot tower that features a statue of the General at the top.

As Niagara’s first luxury hotel, it has long been a favourite of Hollywood elite and royalty. Since it’s opening, the Crowne Plaza has hosted many notable guests throughout history including Walt Disney, Shirley Temple, Jimmy Stewart, Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth, and perhaps most famous guest, Marilyn Monroe, who made the Crowne her home while filming the movie “Niagara”. In recent years the Crowne Plaza has been graced with appearances from Sylvester Stallone, Matt Dillon, Bruce Willis, and Jackie Chan. The Crowne Plaza has even appeared on film, the ending of “The Whole Nine Yards” starring Matthew Perry was filmed on the balcony terrace on the 11th floor.

The Crowne’s continued efforts to be the finest hotel in Niagara Falls have seen the addition of celebrated Chef, Author and TV Host Massimo Capra to the legendary Rainbow Room Restaurant. Chef Massimo brings extensive culinary experience, and passion to his work at The Rainbow Room by Massimo Capra, and has created a fresh market menu that showcases rich diversity of Niagara’s produce, meat and game industries.

With a rich history, and a commitment to detail that enhances its elegance, the new 4-star Crowne Plaza Hotel Niagara Falls Fallsview remains the jewel in the Niagara Falls landscape.
